UConn Law Rises in National Ranking

UConn School of Law Ascends in Prestige

The University of Connecticut School of Law has experienced a significant rise in its national ranking, marking a notable achievement in the realm of legal education. In the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, UConn School of Law has ascended by an impressive 16 points, securing its position at 55 in the nation. Particularly noteworthy is the advancement of the school’s part-time Evening Division program, which has surged by 9 points to claim the distinguished No. 10 spot nationally.

Bar Passage and Employment Success

This remarkable ascent in rankings underscores the institution’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to fostering the success of its students. One of the key factors contributing to this achievement is the exceptional performance of UConn Law graduates in bar passage and employment outcomes. With a staggering 94 percent of the Class of 2022 employed within 10 months after graduation, including 13 percent securing prestigious positions in state and federal judicial clerkships, UConn Law demonstrates its unwavering commitment to preparing students for successful legal careers.

Exemplary Class of 2023

The success story continues with the Class of 2023, where UConn Law graduates showcased outstanding performance in the Connecticut bar exam. An impressive 84 percent of graduates who took the exam for the first time in July 2023 passed, surpassing the state average by a remarkable 17 points. These achievements stand as a testament to the dedication and hard work of both students and faculty, supported by an extensive network of accomplished alumni.

Resumption of Ranking Participation

Last year witnessed UConn School of Law, along with several other prestigious institutions, withdrawing from active participation in the U.S. News & World Report ranking process. However, with revisions made by U.S. News to provide more comprehensive data to prospective students, UConn Law has opted to resume its participation, further solidifying its commitment to transparency and accountability in legal education.

Recognitions Beyond U.S. News Rankings

Beyond the U.S. News rankings, UConn School of Law has garnered recognition from various quarters. The National Jurist’s preLaw magazine has consistently recognized UConn Law as one of the best value law schools in the nation. Additionally, the school has been acknowledged for its excellence in specialized areas such as environmental law, tax law, intellectual property, alternative dispute resolution, child and family law, and human rights law.

Flourishing Academically and Beyond

UConn Law’s ascent in national rankings reflects its flourishing academic environment, research endeavors, community service initiatives, and the overall quality of student experiences. Dean Eboni S. Nelson aptly summarizes the collective pride felt by the UConn Law community, emphasizing the profound impact of generations of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters in shaping the institution’s enduring legacy.

Daniela Bedoya, a student graduating in 2025 with a major in art and art history, specializing in photography and video (SFA), dedicated her last summer to capturing the essence of underwater rugby games. With the generous support of the BOLD Women’s Leadership Network, Bedoya embarked on this endeavor, allowing her to delve into the world of sports photography and conduct interviews with professional female photographers in the field. Her resulting exhibition, titled “Women in Sports: Behind the Lens,” graced the walls in February, showcasing her passion and talent.

Daniela Bedoya faces the risks inherent in underwater rugby with courage and determination, undaunted by the possibility of blacking out, sustaining a concussion, or encountering any other challenges that may arise during the game.

Conclusion

The rise of UConn School of Law in national rankings is a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence, student success, and continuous improvement. With its stellar performance in bar passage rates, employment outcomes, and recognition across various domains of legal education, UConn Law reaffirms its position as a leader in shaping the future of legal professionals.
